ABSTRACT

Primary ovarian ectopic pregnancy has remained a rare event. It is difficult preoperatively to diagnose and differentiate ovarian pregnancy from hemorrhagic ovarian cyst and tubal ectopic pregnancy. However, improved diagnosis of acute hemoperitoneum of ovarian origin may reveal a higher incidence than reported earlier. The diagnostic criteria were described in 1878 by Spiegelberg, which comprise that the pregnancy is in the ovary and does not involve the tube. Ovarian pregnancy occurs within the ovary and on the corpus luteum, usually with rupture of the ovary and a massive hemoperitoneum. We report a relatively intact primary ovarian pregnancy with a brief review of the literatures.

ABSTRACT

Corunal or interstitial pregnancy is very rare and its diagnosis is difficult. It accounts for no more than 2% to 4% of all tubal pregnancy. As ruptured is likely to occur between the end of the second and the end of the fourth month, it causes serious maternal mortality and morbidity. If the contralateral tube is patent, history of ipsilateral salpingectomy may be risk factor for interstitial pregnancy. A 37-year-old woman had laparoscopic right salpingectomy due to tubal pregnancy. One year later she experienced a second ruptured interstitial pregnancy on the same side.

ABSTRACT

Paraganglioma is an extraadrenal pheochromocytoma originating from chromaffin ceIls distributed in sympathetic nervous systems. This tumor often can produce catecholamines and induce sustained or paroxysmal hypertension, with or without the typical symptams of headache, palpitation and sweating. Paraganglioma without the usual clinical manifestations is not easy to suspect and diagnose. Herein, we report a case of atypical retroperitoneal paraganglioma which was thought to be the pancreas tail mass and result in a paroxysmal adrenergic crisis and fatal dilated cardiomyopathy after the sonographically guided percutaneous biopsy. This rare case warns against the usual practice of percutaneous biopsy for the preoperative diagnosis of intraabdominal or retmperitoneal tumors.
